Troubled Bolton’s Holden out for another six months

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stuart Holden will be unable to play for at least another six months, after it was revealed he had cartilage damage.

The American player underwent a routine procedure on his knee which revealed the extent of his injury, just days after his return to the Reebok Stadium. He had been missing from the first team since March after a rough tackle from Manchester United player Jonny Evans which left him out of action.

It was thought that the ligament damage he had sustained was healed, and the discovery of the cartilage problems is a huge blow to both Holden and the team.

According to PhysioRoom.com ‘s table of English Premier League injuries, Bolton currently have 7 players out putting them at the top with Manchester United and Newcastle. However, with Wanderers having gained just three points from the 7 games they’ve played so far this season and both United and the Magpies firmly in the Champions League zone, Holden being out for longer could lead to the Whites playing in the Championship next season.
